So, MTV.com is having this "Battle of the Boy Bands" thing where you vote for your favorite boy band versus others. I voted for the Monkees, of course, but the lack of Rockapella on that competition... MTV, you disappoint me. Which is probably why I never watch you.

I love Pleasant Valley Sunday! What are your other favorite songs by The Monkees?

My absolute favorites are "Listen to the Band," "Sweet Young Thing," "Papa Gene's Blues," "Daily Nightly," "Valleri," "Pleasant Valley Sunday," "I'm a Believer," "Last Train to Clarksville," "(I'm Not) Your Steppin' Stone," and "Shades of Gray." There are others, though, which would be on the second tier of faves. XD;

...My Platinum Nuzlocke is going to have a Monkees theme. Starter will be named after Davy, and the first three non-Bidoof catches that fit their personalities will be Micky, Peter, and Mike. I've even put in a special rule that once I get the TM for Attract, Davy has to learn it and can't forget it. XD;

(...Is it sad that I know next to nothing about D/P/P and am already so against Bidoof...?)

Listen to the Band is my favorite Monkees song!!

Other faves include Steppin' Stone, Mary Mary, Girl that I Knew Somewhere, Words, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Randy Scouse Git (probably my second fave), Valleri, Last Train to Clarksville, Daydream Believer, and Porpoise Song.

I've never heard of some of those so I'll have to check them out! I recently got Spotify which makes it super easy to check out new music x3

Well, *NSYNC said that they were directly inspired by Rockapella, so I assumed... But maybe you're right; when Scott heard that *NYSNC said that, his reaction was "...Is *this* what we spawned?" XD;

I mean, nobody would call the Rolling Stones a boy band...
And yet the Beatles were in that boy band list, and I never considered them one. Hmmm...

Yeah, I didn't know it myself until I read in one of Scott's interviews--last year, I think?

Yeah, I don't remember much about the guys of *NSYNC, either; I bought one of their CDs back when they were all the rage. The tracks are still there in my library, buried amongst all the 980 other songs. XD;

I have the same question as your other commenter as to whether Rockapella can really be considered a boy band. It just doesn't seem that they really fit the qualifications. But in any case, it's interesting that N*SYNC said that. They do have some lovely harmonies, no doubt of it.

I think maybe sometime I'll tinker with a fic about Micky and Peter's earlier years. Maybe it will be a present-day fic with flashbacks. Hmm.

And Daily Nightly is such an intriguing song. I was using it as the image song for that Tony backstory fic I was doing.
