Yet another multipurpose post...

Oops, it dawned on me that I never did make that post about all the Darren McGavin and Simon Oakland shows/movies I had seen. Well, for one thing, I saw the two-part Combat eps "The Long Way Home," in which Simon played a WWII sergeant who, along with his men, had been captured in a Stalag, where they are tortured for information, but refuse to ( Read more... )

I don't remember having seen that particular Monkees episode, but it does sound very interesting, mixing comedy and fantasy like that.

Maybe, but I know I'll need to level grind too.

Yeah, but you grind a lot less than I do. XD;

What's the highest level you get your Pokemon before E4?

Depends on the game. I did high 50s for my FireRed run, but I'll probably do low 50s for HeartGold--the Johto E4 is at a lower level than the Kanto (which...makes no sense, because it means that Bruno and Lance have gotten *weaker* in the three-year timespan between the Kanto and Johto games--and Lance is supposed to be *Champion* Wot?)

Wow, you're right in that it really doesn't make a lot of sense. But does that mean I'll have to battle Lance again when I complete my Kanto run in SoulSilver? God, I hope not! Remember how tough it was for me to beat him the first time around?

You can rematch the E4 at higher levels after completing the Kanto half of HG/SS, but it is not required. And that isn't even what I was referring to...

In FireRed/LeafGreen, Bruno's Pokémon were in the low 50s, and Lance's were in the upper 50s. But in HG/SS, Bruno's Pokémon are in the upper 40s, and Lance's are in the high 40s, with his highest-leveled Pokémon being at exactly 50. And HG/SS takes place *three years* after FR/LG. So my question is how did Lance get promoted to Champion when he got *weaker*?

Because Lance can still kick our butts? XD

I meant, is Lance champion of both Johto AND Kanto?

Yes, and no--the Kanto E4 serves both Kanto and Johto, so in a way, he is the Champion of both, but in a way, it's just one League.

I'm afraid I don't understand. So, I will have to go up against him again once I finish my Kanto run?

If, by Kanto run, you mean FireRed/LeafGreen, then yes.

If you mean the second half of SoulSilver, then you only have to battle him again if you want to.

I meant the second half of SoulSilver.

Yeah, I really need to grind some more. Really didn't think I would be able to get the fourth badge, since about four members of my team got KO'ed.

P.S.
How can you feel old? You're only two years older than I am! ;)

I feel old because I joined in on the Pokémon bandwagon when it was new--and that was more than a decade ago. XD

I suppose I jumped on, then jumped off, then jumped on again. I do remember watching Kanto episodes of the show before elementary school each day, seeing the first movie in theaters, and having my brother try (and fail at) teaching me the card game.
This also brings up another question: In which order did they come out-- video game, card game, and anime?

The video games came first, then the card game, then the anime.
