I was considering answering this question, but it's been so long since I've seen the Disney movie that I didn't think my answer would be fair. (Seriously, I haven't seen it since I was around five, and I remember it a lot less than Beauty and the Beast, which I also haven't seen since around then.) Grumpy is definitely my favorite in Once Upon a Time canon, for sure, despite the rather sloppy holes in some of how they put his backstory together. (I still say they should have had him run off with the girl, despite the warnings. He just gave up too fast.)

I need to see if I can find that Japanese anime of yours. I've been intrigued by it since you first mentioned it.

*nodnod* Yeah, they definitely could've done that a whole lot better (and, say, I just realized... Rumpelstiltskin/Mr. Gold remembers everything. Maybe his dislike of the fairies has something to do with them failing to find Belle or something?)

It was a definitely intriguing spin on it! But all I can find is the Italian dub... Ah, well. It is notable in that the Queen isn't inherently evil; she was extremely corrupted/possessed (it's been a while since I've seen it, but I forget if it's because she unwittingly made a deal with the devil or not).

That's one idea some of the fans have been throwing around. I imagine we'll find out eventually!

Yeah, I remember you mentioning a deal with the devil. That would be interesting if she actually didn't know what she was doing/that it was the devil/etc.

Indeed.

Yep. Oh, and Doc gets a Disney death at one point, too, along with Snow (she gets multiple ones, actually; they use the comb and the corset from the original fairytale in addition to the apple, plus another one)--just remembered that.
