Day 29 of the 30-day meme: Favorite animal in the series

Hogan's Heroes: In spite of how awesome and hilarious Freddy is, I still think my favorite animal in the series is actually Rumpelstiltskin (pic credits to kirarakim). Aside from utterly cute it is to see LeBeau fawning over him, there's something adorably hilarious in seeing five grown men chase ( Read more... )

I know, his interacting with LeBeau is one of the reasons why I love that little dog. X3

And thanks for the review to "In the Glow of the Night"--I do intend to continue with it once I finish "Follow Me to Heaven."

I think I love Freddy the best because I think it is really adorable (and somewhat unexpected) to see Newkirk so smitten with a chimp. That being said Rumpelstiltskin is also very cute. I love the animal episodes. :)

Although there were things I liked about Crystal Skull (bringing back Marion the relationship between Indy & Mutt) overall I was disappointed in it. I didn't like the mixture with sci-fi.

I definitely think Raiders and Last Crusade are the best of the series but I have a soft spot for Temple. As a kid I had such a crush on Short Round.

LOL, yeah, it was a surprise to see Newkirk fawning over the chimp--and dressing him up as LeBeau. XD

Yeah, the sci-fi thing was very different when compared to the original trilogy...

I can't like Temple. I just can't. XD; It's like why you can't like Marya--since she's a completely wrong portrayal of real Russians. Well, Temple is a completely wrong portrayal of Indians and Hindu beliefs-- Kali is *not* evil!

I understand and respect your reasons for not liking it. I think my reasons for enjoying it is not even because it's a good movie (it is the weakest of the original trilogy) but because it is a part of my childhood. Actually there are a lot of movies I enjoy out of nostalgia. I sometimes wonder if I would still like them if I saw them for the first time today.

**nods**

Nostalgia definitely has a lot to do with liking fandoms--probably the main reason why I still like the old Pokémon eps. XD;

Yay, somebody else who hates Temple but didn't think Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sucked! Seriously, I'm not sure what all the hate was about...okay the CGI monkeys were sort of awful, but other than...MARION WAS BACK OMG AND THE VILLAINESS COULD FENCE AND AND AND THE HAT AT THE END AND...glee~

...I quite liked Spalko. I was just so happy to see a badass, intelligent female character who doesn't appear to exist purely for boobs-and-butt fanservice. I could never stand Lara Croft just because any "strong woman" aspects of her character seem to be thrown on just so it's not sexist to center a game around TINY SHORTS AND BIG BOUNCEY BOOBIES OMG! Also, fencing is almost always an instant win ( ... )

I didn't get what the hate was about, either; it was very much in the spirit of the franchise, though the sci-fi was a bit of a "okay, where did that come from?" moment.

Spalko was definitely an intriguing character. ^^

Oh, I liked Short Round, too, I will admit. Willy was annoying, and it was the misrepresentation of India and Hinduism that really got to me since, you know... I'm Hindu. XD; That gross-out dinner would never have happened as there is *always* something vegetarian on a Hindu table (my sect doesn't eat meat *at all*, though since the royals in the movie would be in the Kshatriya class, they would eat meat--but not those weirdo dishes. Seriously, wot?).

And don't get me started on how they misrepresented Kali...

As I understand it, sometime around Marion's onscreen appearance, George Lucas took over the script, thus we get ALIENS AND SPACESHIPS! From what I've heard, the original script played out much more like a traditional Indy movie.

I think I have a bit of a...what's the female version of a man-crush?...on Spalko, villain or no. She fences and is on a quest for knowledge how is that not cool? :D :D :D

Apparently Willy was only there (or at least, that actress was only playing Willy) because Spielberg was nailing her. .___. On top of being utterly useless as a character, the overacting as (failed) attempts at comedy were just painful. I get that her character was supposed to be sort of thrown into things, but it's like the kind of acting and dialogue you'd see in a really cheesy Saturday morning cartoon...the kind nobody over the age of ten laughs at. Actual "cheesy cartoon" sums up quite a lot of the movie, crappy acting and utterly-wut representations of other cultures and all...but in a cartoon, they'd at least have the decency ( ... )

...Oh. Bleh. A traditional Indy movie would've been nice.

they'd at least have the decency to make up a fake country.

See, if they had done that, I wouldn't have minded, either.

Kali isn't exactly associated with death; Her name means "blackness of death" or something along those lines, but She is not responsible for reaping souls. That's Yama's job, and He is actually quite benevolent.
