Wrote a ton last night. Nearly finished with chapter 4. I managed to smooth over the first-writing roughness tonight and now that I have Jim Smith's book again from the library, I can continue the character profiling. It's been super helpful so far so I hope it continues ( Read more... )

There should be a rule somewhere that says best friends shouldn't cause you endless frustration.

You have my wholehearted agreement on that one. The problem with mine seems to be pretty much that we're both quite capable of having in-depth conversations with other people without too much emotional distress, but not so good at doing it with each other. Or maybe it's just me.

Sorry about that rant. *looks sheepish*

With my friend and I it's almost the opposite. Part of the problem is that we have plenty of discussions but no action on her part. She complains about this and that but makes no move to correct anything and gets upset if I start "preaching" at her.

I'm glad you're getting some writing done. I have, too, but it's all fanfic. Bleh. I play chess, but not very well. My mom's been reading the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes books, too and she says they're pretty good. Good luck on the contest.

That's true, but I have several orginal stories that are languishing because my muse has been focusing on the fanfic. *glares at muse*

DUDE! I care. *is impressed* I can't even stay disciplined enough to finish a bloody fanfic.

Heh. Part of my discipline is do to the fact that my book, once finished, will be worth Departmental Honors in English. Fancy yellow sash thingy and such when I graduate. :-D
