I was looking at who listed "castle" as an interest and stumbled across your journal and read this entry AND had to comment because of the Once Upon a Time commentary (dude, like I seriously reacted to it in the same way you did...and Henry's line sort of made my eyes well up).
Um, most of the people on my f-list are people that I've interacted with a lot on other fanboards. So, you can friend me if you like, but I don't friend back right away.
Natural things? I'm not sure I understand. I take vitamins and whatnot...
My thyroid makes too much of the hormone that it's supposed to naturally produce because my pituitary gland is sending it the wrong message. I don't think there's a "natural" remedy for that... though I'm sure my doctors would suggest the best possible remedy.
*huuuuuugs* I had mass anxiety, too, but I really don't know what it was all about. A friend suggested holiday blues...not being with my family at all and such. I don't know.
I grew up with Pituitary Dwarfism Syndrome, so I can relate to the thyroid thing. I've had to learn how to eat differently to keep my body in check, paying attention when I get a craving for one thing or another. The better I eat, the better I feel, and the more stable everything stays. It's never been really severe for me (when I was done growing, my thyroid seemed to calm down, too), but I learned to keep my Vitamin D levels up. It's a good mood stabilizer.
I really hope your doctor is able to supply some answers! I saw "Xanax" and immediately winced. I had a bad experience with Prozac and do everything in my power to stay off meds like that, now.
I don't want to be on xanax or anything like that at all... but I was just recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism so maybe once I get my thyroid meds figured out, maybe it'll be better. My doctor hasn't said anything about diet figuring into it... that'll be something to ask about at my upcoming check up.
I know it definitely *has* been better since I started my anti-thyroid medds, but maybe there are dose things to figure out? Or maybe I just need therapy? Who knows. I'm discovering this year that the human body is a weird place.

Oh yes. Yes, it definitely is. And the more we think we understand about it...the more in the dark we really are.
One thing while I'm thinking about it: have they ever told you if you have an iron deficiency or not? That's something they always slapped me with, "Your body is too small, your eyes are too big, and your iron is too low. We need to test your thyroid...AGAIN." Low iron also simulates feelings of lethargy and depression...and the need to want to curl up in a blanket with a hot cup of tea.
That could be something else to bring up unless you already know the answer.
I'm just pulling stuff out of my head as it comes to me. I was never medicated when I had the same issues, so I'm trying to remember what I did that made me feel better.
Hmm, well, I'm guessing that they would have noticed an iron deficiency in all the blood tests I've had since being diagnosed, but, again, it is something to ask about. I do take a multivitamin everyday as well...
