dancing, moodthemes, fic requests

Sep 21, 2008 09:57

Last night I was a chaperon at a church youth dance. Nope, Mormons don't forbid dancing... we actually have dances at our church gyms on a regular basis. Heh--when I was growing up all my (non-Mormon) friends in Oklahoma thought that was so weird. (Lots of small towns in Oklahoma used to have laws forbidding dancing... and some of my friends had ( Read more... )

I always had a fondness for my au new caprica fics "Six and Two" and "Two Tribes Gone To War".

And Ingrid and I wrote "The Peace of My Years" which is also a New Caprica AU.

Yay, thank you! It's way too easy for me to overlook Gaeta while looking for stuff about the New Caprica resistance.

I think I've read 'Six and Two' and 'Two Tribes,' but it's been a while. When I first found fanfic almost two years ago I sort of went on a reading binge for a few weekends and the stuff I read all started mixing together in my mind. Heh.

I was just thinking about mood themes! The thing that intimidated me was how to install the thing. And some people combine three different mood themes! *boggles* There is also the fact that I have moods beyond the regular LJ ones. The LJ ones can be a bit negative sometimes. But I still put moods if I remember!

(You are not emotionally distant! And I would love to see one for your 'Watch out she's grumpy!' mood!)

I made a list of New Caprica fics here. I still love these. :-)

ETA: I should also add millarific's WIP From a Balance Beam and wyrdwritere's Hubris. The latter is very plotty and AU New Caprica-focused.

I totally forgot about your New Cap recs! I think I'm going to stay focused on the resistance fighters for my recs list. Hm.

Hey, mine is black too! I think it's broken! I am definitely not emotionally distant. :-) Just indifferent to moodthemes and not technologically savvy with with installing them. Silly meme.

The program is only designed to detect the moods you actually select--and if you don't select a mood often enough, you get black. Heh.

Yes, it's a very silly meme. I still resent getting black, though. *g*

I was going to rec Lizardbeth's Sam fic, but I saw you'd commented on it, so.

Instead, I have the very short list of non-pwp resistance fics I've written:

Broken Windows and Ashes - Caprica, with some later New Caprica stuff, angst and a bit of sex.
Out on the Edge of the World - New Caprica, my take on the Sam goes from dying to living bit.
One of These Mornings - Caprica, Sam and Jean (this fic would not pass the Bechdel test if Sam were a girl)
Resistance by any other name... - New Caprica, my favorite resistance AU ever (Dee and Kara are running it).

And Sabaceanbabe has Scenes from a Liberation - slightly AU, New Caprica resistance and rescue.

Huh, there's at least two there that I haven't read. How did that happen?

heh, I was fuschia, I think because I rarely use mood themes, but when I do it's usually the happy ones. (there needs to be a SQUEE mood!)

I will pimp my other two Resistance-fics (which I think you're read, but, y'know, just in case *g*):

A Change in the Wind , when Sam was captured by the Cylons and taken to the farm on Caprica, instead of Kara, AU.

And when Sam realizes he's a Cylon during the first attacks AU,
Not All That We Are. This one is going to have the New Caprica continuation of the story, and widen out the ensemble VERY SOON NOW... (it's turned so epic on me, omg)

I beta'd Sbabe 'Scenes from a Liberation' which you should definitely read, if you haven't yet.

Yay, thanks for the reminder about 'Change in the Wind.' ('Not All That We Are' was already on the list, heh.)

Wow. I haven't seen most of these, thanks!

And yes, 'Pretty Girl' was on my list, but I'm glad it made it on yours, too. Hee!
If I didn't like my own stuff, I wouldn't write it.
