Since bsg_epics was asking about fandom pairs we like and why, here, have a post I started a few weeks ago and then forgot about. Probably because I was writing
Zoe Morgan/John Reese fic again. (Heh.)

It's funny you think of Peter, Leoben, and Sam as stable. I never thought about them quite that way. Heck, I'm not sure who was stable on BSG except for maybe Helo. I sometimes think the stable guy is so boring, though. Like Riley. Gosh, was he boring. I never wanted Buffy to have a normal life. I hope she never did.
I liked Juliet/James. I liked Juliet more than I thought I would and it worked for them somehow. Juliet was pretty cool by the end of the show.

Aw, Juliet. She was really interesting. She got some character development that I found unexpected and pleasing.

!!! I had no idea you were an NX fan! I'm always excited to run into another, as it's my favorite show. :D
Maggie and Joel had lots of deliberate UST, one hookup that both decided to ignore, and then I don't remember.
They actually got together for about a year in season five, but then in the last season, Rob Morrow left the show a half-season before it was canceled, so Joel first went crazy for a few episodes and moved out to the hinterlands (seriously, I have no idea what was going on there) then went back to NYC, while Maggie stayed in Cicely. I...basically refuse to acknowledge the sixth season exists.
my f'list is decidedly not in favor of this pair, but I think in general it has more supporters than detractors?
FWIW, everyone on my flist who watches the show ships Olivia/Peter. I didn't realize there were people who weren't into them until fairly recently, when I started looking for Fringe content on friendsfriends.

A lot of people on my f'list want the Olivia only show. I sort of get that, but I really do like Peter and his story and growth, a lot of which comes from Olivia herself.

I agree! I feel like the show and Olivia's story would both be less interesting without Peter there.

I feel like I mostly have your experience in OTPs -- I tend to like canon couples if anything, but very rarely the Big Ship that's popular in fandom. And definitely have your tendency for the strong if erratic girl and supportive, sometimes more passive guy.

Aw, Jarod/Miss P would be a fun pair to write, I bet.
