Hugh Jackman's American accent is impeccable, and it would have been odd to hear his native accent since he was fighting in various American wars... but I love his natural accent so much!
Huh. Apparently Wolverine is supposed to be Canadian? Other than him living in Canada with the girlfriend, I didn't really get that from the movie. (Found this fact while reading stuff at imdb.com and wikipedia.)
I thought it could have done with a lot more Ryan Reynolds (not as deadpool but as Wade) and a lot more Gambit, for sure. And a lot less angsting over the dead girlfriend twice.
More Wade would have been good--he'd been ignored for so long by that point in the movie that I'd forgotten about him. And making him into Deadpool--I would have liked more info on how they accomplished that.
Angsting over dead GF twice was, indeed, annoying.
Hmm, that right there is enough to make me reconsider my plans to see it this weekend. And I'd want more Gambit (always). Maybe I can just go watch Star Trek again. ;)
Eh. From what I've read, if you like the characters already (meaning even the smaller roles in the film), you'll enjoy seeing them onscreen. Just don't expect much.
(Gambit's accent was not particularly impressive, unfortunately. Not worth wincing over, just not too great either.)
