Not much has been going on, just work and that's about it really. I'm starting to train taz for Rally Obedience. I'm going to be teaching a class of my own on Rally so I have to learn it front and back. My best way of learning it is to teach it to taz and go though a class myself. However I'm having a hard time finding a class that I can take ( Read more... )

Got yearling hound that has started to pick fights with my pit.
He freaks out at unknown movement. And getting uppity.
Seems to be insecure and/or jealous.

Any suggestions?

To start off keep them apart unless your with them. If you are not paying attention to what is happening between them, tether the hound to you with a leash. However if you see him start to become more aggressive towards your pit because of the leash just keep them apart. You will need to work on building the confidence of the hound if he is feeling insecure, and when ever you see him not aggressing towards the pit reward him with something really yummy that he will only get around your pit. You have to make this treat very special for him and he can only get it if he is being good with the pit.

Have they actually gotten into a fight, has anyone been injured yet?

yes they hurt each other.
Buster brown the pit is actually trying not to fight him but will if pushed.

Duncan was sleeping with us last night growled when the cat came near.
We moved his kennel to the corner of the Living room trying to make him a special place. We swap out who sleeps in a kennel so that we have room to sleep. I'm not sure what started this but putting a crimp on things.
They used play well with each other. Wife thinking of having nuetered but I'm not sure that will help.

For the neutering ti will depend on how old he is, there is a chance it will help but it will take 2 to 3 months for the hormones to get out of his system. testosterone will make dogs territorial and they can fight more because of it. That's one of the reasons that daycares require all dogs to be fixed ( ... )
