I can smell the smoke from the Lilac Fire as I type. It started at about eleven this morning near the cities of Bonsall and Fallbrook, about fifteen miles northeast of here. As of the latest update I could find (about 8 PM PST), it had burned 4100 acres; it's at 0% containment

Thank you! We're good; the smoke hasn't been too bad, either. (Fortunately -- although the wind is blowing it out to the coast -- it hasn't been blowing directly through our neighborhood, although we can certainly smell it.) I'm not looking forward to Sunday, though. The wind's supposed to pick up again, and although the firefighters are more or less keeping the Lilac fire in place, it's only 15% contained. It could still get away from them if the wind's too bad. Damn, I hate fire season.
