More stats on the monarchs.

Wednesday, June 12: 138 eggs, 14 caterpillars.

Friday, June 14: 116 eggs, 17 caterpillars. Six had just hatched (about 1mm long); one was so new it was still eating its empty egg case. (Here's a photo.) Two were 44.5mm (1-3/4"), and the rest ranged from 9.5mm (3/8") to 22.2mm (7/8 ( Read more... )

I have something to help with your crows, but it's very noisy and the results tend to splatter.

I see a paper wasp and I bring out the raid. Evil bastards. Die. They get in my house!! My cats go after them!! Noooooo!

...Although I can't use anything like that around the caterpillars. I won't even use it in the yard; there are a lot of bugs and critters I like. Plus it'd go up the food chain to birds and lizards and hell, cats.

Sometimes I use Safer's Insecticidal Soap -- which doesn't persist in the environment at all -- but of course I can't use that around the monarchs either. Oh well.
