Right now, I'm listening to a song from Evanescence's new CD that I haven't heard before. Or rather, just finished listening to it, because I set everything aside so I could fall into it and experience it more fully. First listenings of a song can be so powerful. I do the same thing with music and books, saving them until I feel like the time is right. I don't know if I have particularly good judgement about when that time is, though. Sometimes I pick just the right thing and it's perfect, and sometimes after years I pick up a book only to realize I would have loved it so much more had I started it sooner.

That happened to me with Lord of the Rings. Everytime I saw it at the library, I let it go, until the pre-release stills from the movie intrigued me enough to give it another go.

I used to be more interested in saving books, especially ones I thought would be special to me in some way. But as I've gotten older I've moved more toward seizing the (literary) moment, I guess.

I can really relate to what you said about ending up in the Good Girl costume. I've definitely been there, and to some extent I suppose I still am. And also what you said about paradox - I wish I knew how to come to terms with it.

And thank you! I like the icon a lot too. I was getting tired of my old ones.

I think if I just stay aware of all the paradoxes I carry, and answer each side of them according to which one wants to dominate at the moment, it's still confusing, but less so. And it makes things interesting and exciting. <3
