Being a Weasley meant that you were supposed to have red hair, freckles, and be somewhat stocky-at least if you were a girl. In Victoire’s mind, she was a freak. She took after her mother; bright gold hair and pale, luminous skin you could see her veins through. All of her Weasley relatives had freckles, tiny brown constellations across their skin, a story not yet told-and before one fateful summer visit to France, she was jealous, after she traced veins along the underside of her arm. Happy that she didn’t have freckles, because no one would forget her.
