Office Hours [Monday, February 12]

After learning about the students she's been assigned to in the mentoring program Rose made a call to each of them, she's really not sure what to say to them. She's only gotten the teaching down only just, so if she's fiddling a bit with her laptop and other files it's because she's nervous. Daleks, Cybermen, Krillatanes easy. Teaching and students

Rose looked at her in surprise and remembered the mind reading thing. "Yeah, I knew *a* Doctor. The one I knew is in a different universe," she grinned at her, "See, I'm not so hard to read am I?"

"Not when you're being clear about things," River noted. "Not as easy as most though."

"I have a spaceship," she added.

"Spaceship!" Rose's eyes brightened, "Do you know how to pilot it?"

Thoughts of going to space with Parker and Jack and other students pervading her mind. But most of all the thought of going out there again, to SPACE!

"I'm learning," she said. "You know Parker and Jack? They were among the ones to go with me this weekend."

For some reason she trusted Rose enough to tell her about this. River might not be able to read her mind completely, but she recognised goodness.

The dangerous and terrible mission? The one with the space cannibals?

"I hope you weren't hurt?" Rose asked, immediately concerned. "And yes, I know Jack and Parker, I met them at the start of the semester."

She more than knew Jack but she wasn't going to say anymore and tried not to think about, hoping River won't catch on.

"Jack was," River admitted, looking a little guilty. "But he was being reckless."

Trying not to think about something was usually hard and very easy to notice, but Rose's mind kept evading her. River opened her mouth to ask, then closed it again.

"That's Jack," Rose said with a sigh, with a resigned knowledgeable tone.

Rose tried thinking about anything but her memories of her Jack. She shifted wondering if River could read anyway.

"Yes," River said, giving her a curious look. "You know Jack, don't you?"

Not knowing exactly why, it was still clear to River that Rose wanted this kept secret, out of some kind of concern for Jack. She nodded. "Won't mention it."

"I can show you the spaceship sometime," she offered.

Rose smiled relieved. "Thank you." Whether for the ship of for River not mentioning anything on Jack. "So, anything you want to learn from a teacher like me?"

River thought for a moment. "I came here to get to be a teenage girl. Didn't get much of that in the Academy and before that," she smiled, "I was just too busy being the prodigy."

"Well then," Rose said, leaning close, with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "You just came to the right teacher -- I was known for trouble in me old school. Actually, I'm still known for trouble. I can help you feel more like a teenage girl than anyone in the business."

River beamed. "That's perfect. What do you suggest?"

[rose_bad_wolf]

"Tell you what, let me think about it, I'm sure I can think of something." Rose said with a grin, "And like my friends say, I'm a magnet for trouble."

"Fun trouble?" River asked hopefully, not really looking for the Reaver or Alliance officers kind of trouble. "I'm good at fighting," she added.
