If there was something Rose wasn't it was a morning person but her alarm rang at precisely 7:30 am and it persisted to ring dragging Rose from blissful sleep into the morning. Clark, armed with a thermos of coffee, and a basket of baked goods, rang Rose's bell. Literally. Her doorbell I mean.

Rose opened the door, wearing her glasses to ward off the evil sunshine and was surprised by Clark's presence.

"Clark!"

Rose winced at the loud noise and may have mumbled an enthusiastic, but still incoherent 'Good morning.' as she tried to stop a yawn.

"Sorry." Clark apologized. "Coffee?" he offered, holding out the thermos. He was hoping this hadn't been a bad idea.

Rose glanced at the kitchen where she handwavily made coffee for Jack. Rose's eyes widened, Jack! Jack who was still in her room, in her bed!

She grabbed the thermos. "Coffee! That's kind of you! And nice!"

Clark was perplexed. But he held out the basket as well. "And bagels and donoughts."

This made Rose pause in mid panic. "You're very sweet, you know that?" She took the basket in her free hand. "Sorry, I'm just still hungover from last night, had a more than a few drinks with an old friend, well, old-new friend. Well, old-new friend and new student." She stopped when she realized she was rambling.

"I try." he smiled, and tried to follow what she was saying. "That sounds like one of those Fandom Timeline things."

"Oh, yes, Fandom things, burns you out with its innate strangeness and all the like." Rose looked up the stairs and realized that her door was wide open. She looked from Clark to the door and back again. "Hang on a bit I just need to close the door. My door, I mean."

And pushed back both thermos and basket at Clark then ran up the stairs hoping Clark won't follow.

Clark didn't think it polite to follow, and instead stood, feeling slightly awkward in the doorway.

He watched her, briefly admiring the view, then berating himself for doing so.

Rose risked a glance behind her and saw Jack was still fast asleep, curled under the covers with a wide smile. She smiled at him and shut the door firmly behind her and went down to Clark, satisfied that the crisis was averted.

"There, sorry, bagels and donuts and coffee sounds lovely and wonderful." Rose said, linking her arm through his and trying to pull him away from the stair case.

For a very brief moment, Clark felt something familiar in his eyes and he thought he spotted someone lying on the bed behind the closed door, a young man with brown hair, but then it was gone.

What just happened?

"Oh, uh, er, yes. Bagels and doughnuts and coffee." he said, following her. "So, uhm, I guess you had a good night then."

"Very good night," Rose agreed. "Night of drinks, carousing and debauchery. Except no debauchery. Really."

Clark, wasn't so sure about that last one. "Your class isn't today is it?" he asked, concerned.

"Nope. Was yesterday," Rose said shaking her head, and boy was that a bad idea. "Faculty meeting, otherwise I'd still in my bed asleep."

There was something nagging at the back of Rose's mind, something about Clark and his powers...
