Experiments that should be conducted by a responsible professional: would diet have the same effect when spilled in a key board? What about iced-tea?
Yes. And yes. And I can also vouch for the effectiveness of a white wine spritzer to eliminate the functionality of a laptop. The hairdryer did not help.
I don't have a hairdyer but I did have a can of canned air which I hoped would have the same basic result. Sadly, no such luck. Sorry to hear about the spritzer-laptop incident, that must have been a totally bad day. I knew a woman who spilled a bottle of water in her sony laptop and was able to dry it out and have the keyboard work again but that's the only person I know who's ever saved a laptop from a spill. {{{{hugs}}}}}
I love coffee, especially iced-coffee in the summer time. The thermal mugs with spill-proof tops, while not completely spill-proof, do help with my clumsiness.
Waaaaay back when I had a Commodore 128 I spilled a Long Island Iced Tea on my keyboard. Maybe it was because it was so primitive but we were able to clean it out with alcohol, er, the other type of alcohol this time. It did have a sticky key somewhere though.
I saw a ergo keyboard down at Fry's for cheap. Having said that, I have one of those wireless mouse/keyboard ergo things and am happy with it.

I saw a ergo keyboard down at Fry's for cheap. Having said that, I have one of those wireless mouse/keyboard ergo things and am happy with it.
