So it was the Met Gala. I swear, it looks like some sort of insane joke on fashion. About 5 people looked nice and the others all look HORRIBLE, like they were going to a Worst Outfit Ever competition. The theme was "Punk: From Chaos to Couture," but most of this is just Punk: We Don't Know What Decade We're In, or Punk: It Happened Before I was

I think a lot of these outfits were worn because it was the only way they'd ever make it onto the bodies of famous people at a big public event. "Punk? Oh YAY! We can go totally nuts and everyone will think we're just being UNCONVENTIONAL!"

(Which, I can give a lot of it a pass for that reason. Punk in the sense of fuck-the-establishment.)

I was just shocked at how many designers and/or celebrities took punk to mean "lots of lace cutouts." After looking at so many of them I was like, there can't be any more of these, and then there they were.
