I really enjoyed your b&w photos. Plus the "I'm a Quilt" those are all excellent. The other photos are okay, they don't stand out as much. The wood blocks are interesting too.
Thank you. I definitely enjoy black and white photography; it has that stark resonance. Colour photos I tend to play with, like 'I'm A Quilt.' That was turned into a collage. 'Fallen Coup' became an editing project, merely where I adjusted the saturation and the temperature of the photo. And you wouldn't have been the first to say that about the Eliot Spitzer project, hahaha.
My dad has done photography for years and he used to talk about b&w.. it's one of those things i've really come to appreciate. It's kind of funny.. in many ways when looking into b&w long enough its almost as if I can see the color without seeing it. Plus it always seems to have more depth in some ways.
Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Black and white has the ability to create vacuums, with shadows, dark and light, and what have you. With colour, depending on film, black can be so many different colours. I suppose I like the technicality of it all, haha.
"..hey, that camera looks familiar.." I like A Mace, mostly because you gave it that title and I probably wouldn't have seen it that way. Now I can't help but see it, and surprisingly get a sense of movement out of it. The color photos aren't as good as your black and white in subject matter, but I like how the color effects really make the subject pop. Especially in the first one how the sky is brightened to a great vibrant hue. I almost wish the road was even more shadowed to emphasize it. More Than Tales is my favorite. It's proportioned beautifully and I just adore it. In fact, loan me the negative. I want a copy of it.
