Amazing fic! The end made me cry. And kudos for giving John such an unusual illness.

A very scary and original whump - extra worrisome for a pilot, to boot. Really liked your use of Lorne here and the visit to the museum was well-done, not just tagged on to the end. It really related for him and was very touching. Great job!

Thanks, I still think i could go back and add bits. I didn't intend Lorne to be in there as much but it just kind of happened. I got the idea for the art therapy from some BBC programme a few months back. thankd for reading.

What a story! Getting an insight to the suffering John must go through when bad things happen and mixing the building consequences with his physical problem and the stress of not knowing if it would stop him from flying!! Powerful powerful stuff. The image at the end of the dog tags in the art exhibit was breath-taking.
Not a sunny walk in the park type story but a fic that really makes you stop and think a bit. Thanks hon.

Wow, Above and Beyond really took my breath away and that's only seeing a photo of it. To see it in real life must be so powerful. It brought tears to my eyes to see the image of all these dog tags. Each one representing a brave young soldier who died in service.....so sad!
I went to Chicon in 2009 which I fear will be my one and only time in this great city and if Above and Beyond was already there, I'm sorry I missed it.

That was both heartbreaking and lovely. I adore stories that explore the stress you know John has to be going through. And that ending was wonderfully powerful.

A very unusual and unpleasant whump. I know all about labyrinthitis as my mother's had it and it's extremely debilitating and nasty, and for a pilot to get it? Scary, to say the least. I liked the way you handled it all and liked Lorne's inclusion here and the use of the museum was both very appropriate and poignant. Well done. Thanks for sharing :)

I wondered if anyone would know of it or had suffered from it-it isn't pleasant at all and some people whose ears are damaged by it suffer for a long time afterwards. I'm glad you thought it worked and was readable. the museum bit was a real find- the BBC had a programme called Art for Heroes .
