Given my track record with WIPs, this is probably like shooting myself in the face :\ It's been a ridiculously long week, though, and I still can't stop coughing every two minutes, so whatever, I'm clearly not in my right mind.

That's the problem with me. When something new and shiny comes along, it immediately asserts itself at the top of my priority list and basically eats my mind until... the next thing come along. Very short attention span .__.

Yeaaaaah, you should probably reserve that compliment until I actually, you know, manage to write anything adventure-y. Even when I have all the plot laid out in my head, I still have trouble writing the actual scenes in a way that'd make them compelling instead horribly boring to read. My fic = people sitting around shooting the shit for hours.

Living Seal = totally 100% fabricated. It sounds like it could be real. You know, in a Naruto way >_>

Write what you want to write when you want to write it; I'm not complaining, since last time we got the best AU ever out of it *_* I nearly developed a messy heart condition when I felt that this could be Shisui/Hana, but you would never forsake the OTP like that, would you? Would you?

This was probably mentioned and I missed it in my delirium, but how old are they?

I love love love that scene with Itachi and Shisui and the scrolls everywhere, so childlike and lovely--and such a contrast to how suspenseful the rest is <3

THAT'S RIGHT, I SHIP "SHANA" NOW. Apparently she really is the only girl in their age group... Plus, she's pretty, and an Inuzuka, I was weak.

(The real reason I slipped it in there is to lure in the Crazed Fanboys set. Once they're hooked, I will hit them with a most potent ki blast of cousincest. It'll be revenge for all those inane comments I've received over the years.)

...three people have asked that now. I was hoping that by ~glossing it over~ I can avoid the inevitable accusations of THIS IS SO UNREALISTIC. Technically this should take place in the last days of the Third Shinobi War, but I'm muddling several different events together for the sake of the "plot", so let's say... Shisui is 8 (going on 9?) and Itachi is 6. I'd add three years each to their emotional maturity, but yeah, still really young.

If Kishimoto can play fast and loose with his own characters and continuity, so can I >:{

If you ship the hair product, SHANA(TM), you need to then ship Shisui/Rin as well, because apparently these two are linked. Also, Shisui/Sakura. Fun for the whole family.

Maybe the Crazed Fanboys' feeling will be assuaged if Hana then engages in a bout of femmeslash to um, recover from being rebuffed in favor of Shisui's baby cousin (seriously, if a guy ever did this IRL...)

I like fics about teenytachi and Shisui! The good ones are few and far between, but little Itachi has been a fixation of mine since day one.

Dahling, you invented Shisui. Kishi? Kishi who? They are all your PAWNS.

If you really must ship Shisui with someone in Rin's age range (Kakashi? :D), you might as well go for the infinitely more awesome Shisui/Anko ship that we discussed once upon a time. And Shisui/Sakura could be done. It could so be done, and would still be way less wrong than, say, Shisui/Sasuke >_>

Me too. I feel pressured to get him right this time around, since the last time I wrote kid!Itachi, he ended up being a Creepy Child. Goes well with manic-depressive!Shisui, don't you think?

Also, just imagine, an entire fic in which he runs around with this godawful haircut here XD

Uh, anyways: I really liked this chapter. Of course, Itachi and Shisui WOULD invent a rather useful seal by accident. (Is it really new in a ninja world, though? It certainly seems like such a useful idea that I'd be surprised if someone else hadn't already invented it. I'm imagining just an entire room with scraps of paper keeping track of ninja's lives.)

I enjoy Hana's characterization.

GOOD I THOUGHT NO ONE WOULD.

I'd have thought so too, but after combing through the catalog of seals on the Naruto Wiki, it appears that no such thing exists. Nothing like it has appeared in the manga, to the best of my knowledge. But yes, wouldn't something like this be incredibly useful? I'd make an entire map out of seals to keep track of my troops, perfect for commanding from afar.

Hana's probably going to be in the story only for this chapter, so I had to make the most of it.
