to fix your TV: most of the them (in the picture options) come with a reset function. if not, you might have to play around with it a bit.

for your computer: start - programs - accessories - wordpad

You could download AbiWord... it's a small file and works nicely when in need. I install it on computers that don't have Microsoft Word because I can't stand Notepad/Wordpad either.
