Stuff we've been up to

Life is still being rather chaotic. It's been in parts fun, crazy, annoying, stressful, etc. But we've kept busy. I've been averaging a couple of aps a day and one interview a frigging month in response. Which is quite dreadful. Not happy about that but still searching. Good news is Liz has not had any serious asthma attacks and I've had three ( Read more... )

I watched this three times in the same day. The first time, I was on the edge of my chair most of the time. The second time, I just wanted to see the little details at the beginning that you don't pay attention to because you don't realize their significance until later in the movie. But watched the whole thing again. The third time was with daughter and grandson, who is too young to understand the scariness but likes trains. Then, spent an hour on the phone with brother, who is an engineer, knew about the actual incident (wasn't involved, thank goodness) and about trains getting away and the "suits" who only see the bottom line. I wanted to know what was real and what wasn't. The way they finally stopped the train was true (my guess was that was the made up part) except it happened at more like 30 mph than 70. Unstoppable is a great action movie undiluted with a sappy romantic subplot or sex scene - don't have to cover the grandson's eyes. My one criticism is that if you aren't familiar with how trains work, it's a little ( ... )
