Thanks, Mark. I was super surprised by the amount of detail too. I rarely recall that much. But it just seemed to unfold itself more and more to my remembrance, with little prompting.

My convention dreams are always labyrinthine like that, too. I suppose it's partly that convention hotels tend to be labyrinthine, but there seems to be a symbolic level to it too. Ariadne auf Worldcon.

It's like the labyrinth is within, and it recognizes itself when we show up at a convention, and seizes both the gathering and its forms to play with in dream. I'm embarrassed to admit, though, that I don't get your operatic reference, I recognize it but don't know it well enough to understand what it means. How would you explicate it?

The phrase is a play off the title of Strauss' opera (which I've never heard and know nothing about), but it's really more of a reference to Ariadne herself, who helped Theseus find his way out of the labyrinth of the Minotaur.
