Lucas has passed on journal writing duties to me, Callan, this time.
He's been busy working on a project. When he's not fawning over Rose or got his head stuck in a woodwork manual, he's busy hammering and sawing away on his workbench. Quinn has had a very up and down Winter, one minute happy, the next depressed and frustrated. I've been trying to work on getting some medical knowledge so I can help the other settlers, but it's hard with no one to teach me, I mean, how am I supposed to get experience without actually treating someone? And how am I supposed to treat them if I don't know what to do?
Ever since I caught Lucas in bed with Quinn he's become a changed man. I'd always thought it was me he was interested in but it turns out he does like girls after all. I accept that nothing happened between them (I mean, it's Lucas!) but things between me and Quinn are still frosty. I overheard Lucas talking to Scout about his project, it seems he wants to set up a school for the children. Scout thought it was a great idea, though she wasn't keen on having bars on the windows, but it would only be to keep the zombies out, of course.
Lucas' new found confidence seems to be attractive to the girls and I was surprised to see Scout flirting with him. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to find any of the women in Lazy River attractive, well maybe with the exception of Quinn, which is a shame because it would be nice if he would move out and give me and Quinn some time alone. It seems we never have time together anymore. I would even let him take Rose with him, even though I have been getting more attached to her lately. Now that Lucas has taught her to walk and talk, and even potty trained her, she is quite likeable.
Rose had a birthday at the end of Winter. It seems to have brought Quinn out of her funk for a bit. She has been enjoying spending time playing with Rose. I only hope it lasts. Reuben has been acting a bit strange lately, he was smooching with Rowan in our kitchen. I think everyone is getting cabin fever with being stuck inside all winter, roll on spring.
Lucas made Rose a spinning toy for her birthday, she loves it and spins all day till she is sick, then climbs back on and spins some more, kids! Well, we're getting ready for spring, Quinn has the garden all prepared for planting and Lucas has started teaching Rose some basic reading and writing skills. I'm going on on a trip downriver to the university at Riverside Heights, it will take a couple of days but I hope to find some medical teaching manuals so I can further my studies. I just hope there are no zombies down there, my killing skills have gotten a bit rusty since we settled here.
