Geez, I'm not very good at this kind of thing, but here goes....
My name is Thorn Sampson and I'm an army deserter. Shocked? I love to see the look on peoples faces when I say that. Most people would be embarassed to admit that, but with 98% of the army zombified I'm pretty proud of the fact. I met Scout about 7-8 months ago and she was a girl with a plan. I'd been travelling solo for a while, ever since.... well, anyway, I'm a gambling man and I decided to take a risk.
I chose a plot at the other side of the clearing as it had a pond. It wasn't hard to stock it with fish from the river, we had some nets in the boat. I've become quite a proficient fisherman over the past couple of months. I have even managed to perfect hotdog making, okay, I have to admit they do taste of fish... and smell of fish... but they do look like hotdogs!
The other settlers pop round from time to time and it's fun to have some company. Bridget the green plant thingy is pretty cute, so is Scout, not to mention Quinn across the road, pity she's married. Hell, I'd even date that zom if it got me some action! Things are a bit slow in that department.
Scout has asked me to help her out with trying to set up a clean water supply and a rudimentary electric supply. The old farm has a well so there must be an underlying aquifer which we should be able to tap into, it's just a question of getting it pumped up, and that of course, requires electricity. The electricity supply will be a bit more difficult, we did pass some wind turbines about 20 miles downriver, but to move them up here on the boat would be an enormous job. The second option would be to set up a mini hydro electric system, running the water from my pond down to the river and pumping it back up at night, not sure how this will affect the fish though, plus there is all the equipment needed to set it up. This is going to take time.
That's all from me at the moment. I will update you on the water/electricity problem next time.
