So I can't write with an outline, because once the story is told - even to myself - I can't write it. Which is normally fine. However, right now my RPF big bang is sitting at 21K and has no ending in sight. None. Zero. There's not even a vague hazy outline of an ending. The thing is, it's mostly a character piece about self-discovery and acceptance ( Read more... )

Phantom Tollbooth!!!!

I still love this book so much :) I buy it every time someone's kid has a birthday and is either old enough to read it or has someone that regularly reads to their kid.

Bless the Candy Apple News and Boris Bat who recommended the book in the first place - it made my childhood even more magical for having it in my life.

I made my oldest read it this year, and then I made his teacher read it because life is not complete without it.

Oh thank you. I think your ending will come to you. Have you tried sleeping on it? I find sometimes I write in my sleep, (I mean not really write, but assemble stories.) I wake up clear on the next step.

I love To Kill a Mockingbird (Atticus!!!)

Also Princess Bride is a favorite of mine.

And, oh Crosstime Saloon! I was telling my son about it just earlier this week

I suppose I should list mine. So hard to choose.

I would say:

The Persian Boy
Crystal Cave
The Terror
Doomsday Book
Wolves of Willoughby Chase

So hard to choose.

It's so hard to pick. I have books that I love for different times and different reasons. And I completely didn't mention Alice in Wonderland and Little Women and Island of the Blue Dolphins and about a zillion others.
