Creepy and sad and good. Goes so well with the creepy/sad/good of the song. Goddamn, that song...

(...my feedback gets WORSE BY THE DAY. /o\)

That *song*. I have a million different things that could be what the feud is, but this one worked out for the story. And, you know, I got to pretend I had a use for that journalism degree of mine.

As a native southerner, bravo for capturing the whole style and atmosphere of what makes a great southern story. :D

And awesome punctuation with the news obituaries...;)

Thank you so much! I was going for southern gothic, so I'm glad that came through.

This is just heartbreaking, gorgeous, and haunting. Sort of literally--I dreamed about the characters in it last night. :D

Ok, I've heard this song a bunch of times, but I'd never actually paid attention to the lyrics, so this whole story was a surprise to me, from beginning to end. And it's just GORGEOUS. Wonderfully atmospheric, perfect southern gothic, unfolding bit by bit in a way that ratchets up the tension incredibly well and pays off horrifyingly and perfectly in the end. This is just... I'm not sure I have enough words to describe how awesome this is, but I'm so glad I finally got to this in my bookmarks.

Thank you so much. There were a lot of ideas of where and how this story should and could go, but I liked how this one worked out. I'm so glad you liked it!
