Oh, *wow*. Just amazing. I can see this guy coming from the other one, his solidity and confusion and he only ever had that one rebellion in him, didn't he?

because family is family even if you’re an embarrassment to the name

That line could be right out of the Truckers. :)

I don't know if he even had that rebellion or if it was just he got lost in the moment and knew he had to be a man about it and live with the consequences. I have a feeling that afterwards, Marilee expected him to leave and go back to Annette, and he knew he couldn't be that guy.

Oh, Truckers. How are you so much the band of my heart?

I think anyone in a relationship or who has been in one can identify with those feelings of it not being enough, wondering if the other person feels the same way, wondering what else is out there and being so afraid to find out. But sometimes it's just that life is taking the next step forward and doing the best you can, no matter who you're doing it with, or even if you're doing it alone.

Heh. Sorry. I didn't mean for there to be thinky! But it really is true, at least in my experience. That whole "the grass is always greener" syndrome.

Maybe I should do a third one from Marilee's POV based on "Something's Got to Give". Hee. Apparently I have a thing for threesomes.
