I think Norrington's not completely sure of what he wanted, but he was pretty sure - until he got to know her - that Elizabeth could provide it. That changed pretty quickly, I would imagine. Hee.

The first one makes my heart hurt and the second one makes me smile. ::twirls you:: Great work.

The Kevin one *hurt* me. I can just imagine his young face all flushed with anger and horror and fear and emotion and not sure what to do with it all. And you know James and Will were all "Bitches, man. Bitches."

The first one is downright haunting. Having visited one of the former concentration camps, I think you captured the oppressing atmosphere precicely. (Unfortunately, there are always visitors who seem to think that it's kind of a tourist attraction instead of a memorial.)
From a different angle, it's a brilliant choice of subject for your story, because it shows how close Saul and Kevin are at heart, that they care/think about the same things, and that even with all the walls those two have built around themselves, they still are affected by a lot of things very easily.

Much of what Kevin goes through is what my Mom described when she went to Dachau. It's such a haunting moment, and you know Kevin and Saul both would have been touched in a lot of the same and different ways.

I see Kevin and Saul very close during this period in Kevin's life when he's hitting puberty and doesn't know who to talk to, but knows it can't be his dad or brother. I figure Saul offered a trip to Germany and London and Rome and France for history lessons and Kevin jumped at the chance.

And possibly they both got laid. *g*

"Elizabeth is more likely to find herself captain than wife."

So true! I live the thought of the two (ex)fiances talking

You know they were both just "God, what do we do with her NOW?" Hee.
