Question of the Day

Do you prefer service à la russe or service à la française?

Or do you just think I'm trying to act all stodgy by using French dining terms and want to set all of you on some wild hunt through Wikipedia?

Those are two questions!

1) Française. That way I my eyes don't get too big for my stomach and I can organize my portions accordingly.

2) Probably the latter because you're great.

Well, I assume it is the Wikipedia answer, but that would happen no matter what the question is, so I'm going to ignore it. Besides, I learned something today.

My theory on the consumption of food is to consume the food. Sometimes I'll even go so far as to savor the food, too. What I will not do, if it can be avoided, is to sit there and make small talk for two hours as I wait for each successive course to be served. I want to get the food I want when I want it, eat it, and get out of the situation.
With service à la russe, one is forced to eat a single course at a time. Should a course come up that you aren't interested in, you'll be forced to socialize until the next one appears. That impatient feeling you get while you are waiting for your food at a restaurant is multiplied fourteen times. Utter terror, that is.
So, yes, service à la française is the way to go for me. Get in, get what you like, and get out. Ftw.
