LJ Idol 6, Topic 18: "Adored"
I'm not a fan of mornings. I yawn and stretch when the alarm goes off far too early for my preferences, and inaudibly pop a few joints to loosen them.
Boneless, I curl back up with my head on the too-soft pillow and try to snatch a few more minutes of precious sleep before the second alarm buzzes and slowly gets louder. A few moments later a hand reaches across me and slaps it silent. Much better.
“Morning, precious,” she croons.
We cuddle nose to nose, her sleepy blue eyes half-closed as she runs her hand lovingly down my side. I respond to her ministrations by snuggling closer. Her hand scratches under my chin, and my stiff whiskers tickle her palm, causing the girlish giggle that I love to hear.
“Guess I'd better get up before you lull me back to sleep,” she says, sliding out from under the sage green sheets and pulling the black cotton top over her head, baring her full breasts to me unselfconsciously.
I gaze at her adoringly as she goes through the motions of getting ready for work, hoping she won't forget to say goodbye in her usual haste to get out the door on time. I roll over and pretend not to watch her as she moves around the bed on her way to the bathroom.
Closing my eyes, I listen as the water splashes and swirls into the basin. She emerges shortly thereafter, her dark hair neatly held back in a black band. Slipping on her sneakers, she returns her attention to where I lay languidly on top of the covers. Rubbing her fingers up and down my belly several times, she lovingly bestows a kiss on top of my head.
“See you later, baby girl,” she says, turning off the bedroom light as she exits the room. I listen as her steps retreat down the hall towards the kitchen.
My ears perk at the sound of kibble being poured into the food bowl, but I’m not hungry just yet. I roll over, throw my arm over my eyes to block out the morning sunlight that streams through the gap in the curtains, and return to my cat nap.
Contented with dreams of my beloved, I purr.
