Juliek in Elie Wiesel's Night

Feb 05, 2006 16:34

I was reading Night by Elie Weisel for the Oprah Scholarship. I am going insane right now trying to write this paper because it is the third one I have written this weekend (the other two weren't on Night, thank God). Because of my insanity, I find the violinist, Juliek, in this book inifintely amusing. When he is first introduced he gripes ( Read more... )

I've just been browsing through your LJ since you joined that viola community... and I must say, you write BEAUTIFULLY! You definetly have some talent!
add me as a friend -- sexy_bartok. I'm also a violist. and Harry potter nut. I think maybe it's a viola thing to be obsessed with Harry POtter. I study in Amsterdam with Nobuko Imai (and shame on you if you don't know who she is!!!), but i'm originally from Canada.

I've added you as my friend!

I wouldn't be surprised if Harry Potter obsession was a "viola thing." In general I think we're prone to obsessions, lol. My stand partner has a bizarre fixation with cars that I can't understand...

*hangs head in shame* I've heard the name before, but I had to look her up. I'm impressed, however! You must be really good. Studying in Amsterdam sounds positively amazing! I want to study abroad while I'm in college, although what I'll be studying is questionable, lol.

Canada? Cool. I've never been there. I've moved around quite a bit, however. Not for anything very interesting, however (i.e. my dad's job).

Well, I'll talk to you later!

if you want to study abroad, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (ahh, dutch!) is the place to be. It's like studying all over the world at once, because there are so many different people from different countries here. Seriously, I didn't know so many languages existed.
I assume you're American, if you write so well in English and you're not from Canada. Plus the whole notion of "studying abroad" is a strictly North American thing. We Americans (yes, I consider myself American, in the continental sense) tend to forget there's a whole world out there. Where in the US are you from?

Yes, I am American (not in the continental sense, ;P). I currently live in Georgia. How exciting... *not really*

Amsterdam sounds cool (I was browsing through your journal. Certainly can't be considered dull! lol). I don't think I'm going to major in music. Maybe minor. ...I don't know. It's not even worth talking about most days, lol. I do know I want to see the world (I feel like the little mermaid...). I've never been outside of the US, and I feel so sheltered! There's so many interesting places. Of course, from what you say about Amsterdam, I could cut my travels in half through one visit there! ;P
