44%? That's definitely not small change!

I think I remember hearing that when Russia lowered its taxes when it stopped being the USSR, people were worried that the government would go broke, but they actually took in more tax revenue because people actually paid the lower rate. (Don't have the figures to back this up, unforunately, but that's what I heard in school.)
