As for life on Mars, having recently enjoyed RE Howard's original Conan stories, I'm currently over half-way through ER Burroughs' A Princess of Mars, and I see no sign of life on that boring rock. :-P

I have a 3-in-1 collection of the first three novels in Burroughs' Barsoom stories, which I got when I originally joined the Science Fiction Book Club back in 1995. I think it's called The Many Moons of Mars but I might be misremembering. Anyway, yeah I gave up on the book part way through the second novel in it. Just... yeah.
