I think that eventually anyone with any common sense will realize that the chick from MadMen is the best candidate for red sonja. Not only is she a redhead but she has those other things that would look great on a giant movie screen.
I think I should watch it again, but I didn't think Lsdy in the Water was that bad.

Christina Hendricks would make an eye bulging Red Sonja, but I'm sure they'd demand she lose a lot of weight and tone up. Which would be horrible. I'd suggest maybe Bryce Dallas Howard, but she's a bit more of a "fragile" beauty and probably wouldn't be right.
I liked Lady in the Water, mostly because I thought it was an interesting exercise and breakdown of storytelling. That said, watching it originally I kept thinking that most people would hate it, and I've recommended friends and family avoid the movie while telling them I like it.
Still think Shaymalan was a douche for making himself the savior of the world in the film though.

I'm not sure about Keira Knightley, she's much too thin. Jessica Biel is nicely toned and thick and curvy, she'd be a good choice physically. Felicia Day wouldn't happen because she's practically unknown.
I think Shaymalan's problem is he thinks he actually is on par with Spielberg and Hitchcock, when he hasn't earned that yet. Most of what I read agrees that he's a talented director, but not a very good writer, which he seems to think he is. Hitchcock also had the good sense to keep his appearances in his movies to fleeting walk-ons early in them, so as not to distract audiences from the story.
I first saw the movie when it debuted on pay-per-view and we had a **cough**cough**. As I said, I found it fascinating and enjoyed the puzzle aspect of it. Ended up buying the DVD a year or 2 later when I saw it for around $10.
