 I really just do not understand this fascination with travel.  Everywhere I go it's "well you have to travel when you're in your 20's!".  Why? Why do I have to travel? How is it going to make me a better person to wander around The Continent spending money I've scrimped and saved over the previous few years?  Oh, I'm taking photos of famous ( Read more... )

My parents are 64 and still travelling. You can definitely still travel when you're old. In fact, I don't think my parents did any travel before they were 40 because they were simply too busy. I don't think they regret it? So I don't see any reason why you should have to rush yourself to do something you're not comfortable with doing either. I mean, it's not seen as okay to pressure someone to drink, or drive, or have sex before they're ready, and okay, they're extreme examples, but... the principle is the same? Everyone has different comfort zones with different things and should be allowed to do them at their own pace. Plus, travelling before you're 25 is a hassle in some ways, because you can't rent a car and you have to take public transport, which is a MAJOR hassle with luggage, etc etc ( ... )
