Lovely! Miles had to do SOMETHING for the Empire, a retired Miles doesn't bear thinking about. I like the way the threads all pull back together anyway.

And most of all I love that turning-point moment, one I'd never imagined, when Haroche puts the capsules away and does some more research on Lt Vorkosigan's career. I'd blamed all the problems on his ambition, but it was his lack of faith in Simon's judgement that was the problem. Brilliant!

Oh, this was fun. Haroche shows himself a worthy successor to Illyan, after all, by thinking things through. And it's fun to see that the universe hiccuped a bit and then settled down in more or less the same pattern -- which suggests that some things are simply meant to be!

There's an old Alan Parsons Project track called "Rubber Universe". I think that says volumes ;-)

Thanks :-D Glad you enjoyed it :-) I'm a little peeved at myself though, as I only realised this morning that I'd completely forgotten to bring Guy Allegre into the story. Oh well; "We all make mistakes", as the Dalek said, getting off the dustbin ;-)
