Reception (open to everyone)

The Four Seasons had outdone itself. The New Year's debris was cleared in record time from the Cosmopolitan Suite; the wedding trappings quickly brought in. A lot of money had been paid to make this reception happen immediately and Mrs. Burgess was determined that the couple would be pleased with her arrangements. The couple had apparently married very quickly and had had no time to prepare for a reception. They couldn't even provide a proper guest list, but that was not their problem. This was what they were paying her 50% over her usual fees. The only thing she hadn't had to arrange was the entertainment, though she was expected to have all kinds of equipment ready for whomever was playing.

According to Mr. Marshall, the concierge, the couple had also paid for a block of rooms for a week "just in case". The Royal Three-Bedroom Suite was for the happy couple themselves and the staff had been told to be prepared for 2 cats. Most of the 32nd floor had been reserved. The management was overjoyed to have so much money rolling in so soon after the New Year's celebration.

The couple was quite stunning in Mrs. Burgess' opinion. The bride was a natural redhead with a classic beauty that most women had to pay for to come even close. Porcelain skin and a figure that turned men's heads were even further enhanced with a Parisian accent. Even in the lofty world Mrs. Burgess worked the woman stood out. As did the groom, who was a big man. She found herself wondering if he was a linebacker for the Jets or the Giants, but Mr. Marshall assured her that he wasn't a member of either football team. He would have been an intimidating man if he hadn't had such an engaging smile and polished demeanor. He was quite obviously a native New Yorker with a Manhattan accent.

Most of the arrangements had been made over the phone, fax and computer. In some ways she missed the old-fashioned approach, but the time saved, in her opinion, made dealing the electronic monsters worth it. She waited in the lobby patiently. The guests would be arriving soon...
