*shrug* I say Chag Sameach or Gut Yom Tov. Yom Kippur is a holiday. My favorite Yom Kippur ended with dancing.

Chag Sameach is definitely not customary for Yom Kippur here. But whatever works for you, you know.

Well, I assure you it's the traditional greeting in Orthodox communities. There's a Midrashic tradition that the name used for Yom Kippur in many of the prayers, Yom Kippurim, means Yom Ki-Purim. We're encouraged, while respecting the solemnity and gravity of the moment, to recall the festive component of the day- the fact that this is the time of the year when God is closest.
