I'm wearing my other skirt! So far, a success - it looks good and it's very casual, although it's still new enough to see me wear a skirt that everyone feels the need to comment about it. So it's nice to get compliments, but I'd just as rather not get the special attention ( Read more... )

Damian Lewis looks a bit like Hugh Laurie sometimes, too, if you ignore the red hair.

I have the Band of Brothers DVDs and I still haven't watched them, much to my shame, but I want to wait until a time when I can sit and watch the whole thing without guilt or weeklong waits in between episodes.

In the first episode of BoB I couldn't take him seriously, just because he looked so much like Idan Alterman, who is one of my favorite comedian/comic actors. I kind of want to watch Life now, because of him; I'll wait till I finish BoB, and then see.

I wish I had the BoB DVDs - they're supposed to have a glossary of terms which I would really love to have, watching the show. WWII military slang is not always easy to pick up.

Life is really very good in its first season- I think it could have gotten amazing if the writer's strike hadn't forced them to write in the finale early, but I love Lewis and Sarah Shahi as the leads. Watching it, I was also mortified to find I was actually attracted to a redheaded man. :P If you like Lewis, I also recommend trying to find a copy of him as Benedick in the modernized Much Ado About Nothing with Sarah Parrish as Beatrice. It's really charming.

Recs taken! Thank you. I don't like the idea of getting hooked on a show that has a chance of being cancelled, but. I have seen it recced.

*laughs* That is exactly what happens to me on the infrequent occasions when I wear a skirt to work. On the one hand, it's nice that people notice; on the other hand, it's a bit embarrassing that they do notice; it makes me wonder what I look like the rest of the time!

Yeah, it's weird. Like, I can wear what my roommate wears to school every day and on me people would ask why I was dressed up fancy for, which on her they'd just say she looks good.

A friend of mine recently told me I should consciously decide on a style for myself, and just shop for clothes that fit that style. It sounds like a good idea in theory, but too much of an effort (and restrictive) (and calling for an actual fashion sense) to pull off.

Sounds like too much work! I do not approve. Clothes aren't supposed to be a lot of work. They're supposed to keep you from getting arrested for public nudity or dying of sunstroke/hypothermia, and that's about it. *g*

... no, seriously, I *do* have some attractive items of clothing that I enjoy wearing (I like pretty sweaters in particular). But I can't even really imagine sitting down and trying to coordinate my whole wardrobe like that. And my morning strategy for getting dressed is generally just reaching into the closet and seeing what's clean.

Well, yes and no. I mean, I hate putting thought into what I'm wearing, and I generally dislike shopping - but when I'm wearing something that I really like, or that I know makes me look good, or is just fun to wear, then I feel fantastic. Clothes can be fun. I just don't have the patience for putting that much work in, just like I don't have the patience for make up. Or doing my eyebrows in any frequency under three months.

I couldn't get through the first episode of Prison Break. The plot mechanics were too mind bogglingly dumb for me.

I barely got through it either - a few friends told me I should watch it, but really, I just wanted to know who the guy in the YES commercial was and it downloaded really quickly, so I watched it while I was waiting for something else to download. But it does get better. And then, for a little while, it gets kind of awesome, and definitely thrilling - I could actually feel my heart pounding faster at some points. And the characters did grow on me. It's not must watch TV or anything, but it is fun for a while.

Hard to see in stills? No, not really. Same chin, same general shape of the head, almost the same haircut...And I really should catch up on Life and Band of Brothers sometime.

I haven't seen life yet, but 8/10 episodes in, BoB is proving itself to be fantastic, as far as I'm concerned. And if you like it, you should also watch Generation Kill - same style, different war.

Idan Alterman is one of my favorite comedians, and until I got used to it a few episodes in, it was "weird" seeing him in a serious role - I'm just used to him cracking me up. Like in this clip from Avenue Q, where he plays the Ernie-like muppet. ♥

I loved season 1 of Prison Break, Season 2 was okay, got bored half away through Season 3 and stopped watching.

My brother gave me the Band of Brothers DVD box as a namesday present. I really liked it, but I don't think it's a show that I can watch again and again - too real ...

Oh wow Alterman and Damien Lewis really look a like!

Yeah, I can already tell Season 2 isn't going to be as good.... I don't know for how much longer I'll keep watching - I can always find out what happens through the internet.

I don't know if I'll rewatch BoB either - at least, not anytime soon. The thing is, it's great when you watch it the first time, but when you rewatch and already know what's going to happen, there's a lot less suspense, and this is a war movie - uncertainty is half of what they're trying to convey. So the parts that I'd want to rewatch are all the character moments, which... I probably will. If you liked it, you should really look into Generation Kill (I'll stop pimping that soon! I promise.)

And yeah, they do, don't they? *hugs them both*
