Yesterday at work, they provided a free lunch for the employees at Bergners due to the community day sale. It was pretty good food for the most part, catered by a local grocery store and other items brought in by employees and charities ( Read more... )

Eh, I wouldn't go so far as to say it's decidedly barbaric -- though that is the word that came to mind the times I've been at Disney World and people are walking around gnawing on those giant turkey legs. :-D

You're supposed to eat chicken with your hands! Sheesh. Cutting the chicken off the bone with a knife? Wtf! That's really weird; they have something showed up theirs, that's for sure! ;p

I can't even see how one could eat crab legs with a knife and a fork. :?

Well, I think you are supposed to use those nutcracker/crab plier dealies to crack the shells and a little fork to fish out the meat and dip it in butter.

I prefer using my hands personally *lol*

Informal setting = fingers are quite fine (work is ALWAYS informal). Tell 'em to piss off. Chicken on the bone is a pain in the ass to eat with a knife and fork.

If the chicken wasn't fried or barbecued, I might reconsider and attempt eating with a fork, but it's unlikely.

I was just watching Alton Brown and he says to NEVER, no NEVER eat fried chicken with a fork. He said fingers are the way to go. :)

He's smart. They're not. There you go.

Wow, thanks for the links.

There is a lot of handy information in there for a barbarian like me to ignore ;) *lol*

I agree with the chicken on the bone being a pain in the ass to try and eat with a knife and fork.

I mostly use knife and fork since I don't like getting chicken grease everywhere but I don't find it barbaric to eat it with fingers.

Do you know how to point a Finn out in a hamburger place? We fold the burger to a napkin :D

The hamburger thing is kind of odd, but it would be a lot less messy that way. Some fast food places serve hamburgers and other sandwiches in a paper sleeve for the same reason.

I know french fries is a weird answer, but my dad always ate them with a fork. When we would question it, he told us eating them with your fingers was "barbaric".

Of course, there's probably more...it never actually dawns on me that I'm eating with my hands at the time (when I'm at home....I DO have manners when I go out LOL)
