A WIP rec (for the rec and for my thoughts on WIPs in general)

I hardly ever rec WIPs. I love reading them, because I love the anticipation, and the excitement when a new part appears, seeing a story unfold as it is being written. There's always the risk that a WIP will hit a dead end and won't be continued, but I don't mind taking that risk in favor of the fun of following a WIP that does get finished. And ( Read more... )

Thanks for the recces. I really enjoy WIPs, even though sometimes they don't get finished. But still I do like them.

Even a series like Merlin is a WIP of sorts, where you never know if you'll still like where the story is going after some time and it's even not certain if there will be more after each season. I love the anticipation and with fics the thrill when I get an email-notification that something new has been posted. Wouldn't want to miss that!

It's people like you who rec (and comment) on WIPs which often make the day of the author in question, and help inspire them to keep writing!

Er. Or, so I'm told. *shifty eyes*

I love the whole update, comments, update, comments etc cycle. It feels like I'm even more involved in a story than usual :D

okay, so 'Arthur and the real boy' has to be read in the comments of that entry? or how does it work? I'm new to this. ^^

At kinkme_merlin there are posts (this is the 12th one) where people can leave a comment with a prompt for what kind of fic they'd like. The link in my post goes to the prompt.

When someone feels inspired they can leave their fill of the prompt in a reply to the concerning comment. If the fic is longer then one comment it's posted in as many replies as necessary and numbered in the subject line. If it's a WIP it can happen that there's feedback to separate part of the fic.

So in this case the first part of the fic is 'Arthur and the real boy', the second part is 'Arthur and the real boy 2/?' etc. up to 'Arthur and the real boy 16/?' so far. And hopefully there'll be more at some point!
