This summer my daughter and I will attend a three day festival, Lowlands. We bought tickets when not much was known by way of a line up, but it's the most laid back, easy going, relaxed festivals I've ever been to that doesn't have a lot of Big Names, but focuses on wide variety (and not just music but also theater, dance, movies, literature and ( Read more... )

Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian??? And you say there are no big names? Those two bands are amazing.

Hee! Yeah, they're big names too actually, you're right. It's just that with Big Names on festivals I think of Metallica and Red Hot Chili Peppers and such.

I casually announced that Fall Out Boy is going to be there to which my daughter practically started doing back-flips.

Is she also a "general" fangirl in the making? Or is music her forte?

Oh, she's a fangirl all right! She's mostly into manga and anime, and also very interested in music, plus we have similar tastes, especially in music. I've been taking her to festivals and concerts since she was 13 :D

She's a huge Joss Whedon fan, but she's also into SG-1, SGA and Merlin. It's kind of weird to occasionally share a crush with your daughter, I must say o_0 (But particularly Oz from Buffy would apply there...)

I am seriously considering to gatecrash your festival weekend now! Not because of Fall Out Boy...that's one of those cute emo boy bands isn't it? Hm like you say maybe one *should* check them out, for scientific purposes if nothing else...

Lowlands would so be your kind of festival, but it's a logistic nightmare to get there from Schiphol plus you can't get daytickets. So we're doing it the same way as last year; we're renting a holiday cottage somewhere to the north of the festival and Mr. RC brings us there in the morning and picks us up in the evening, so daughter and me are at the festival during the day while he and our youngest go hike and bike in the woods near the cottage.

vensre uploaded 4 songs by Fall Out Boy in a comment here, so you can check those out!

Thank you so much for uploading those! I took them and uploaded them to my ipod so now I'll come prepared to the concert :D

Any time, dear one! I'm excited for you, that you might get to see them. I fancy Patrick, the singer, quite a bit. He's little and redheaded and shy and adorable, and man has he got a voice on him! And Pete has quite an incredible smile too. I expect it'll be a good show.

P.S. fannish tour of Fall Out Boy

Ohh, I think you've just made the Bandom fans very enthusiastic. ;D

My idea of what bandom constituted was limited to Panic at the disco...

The way I understand it, it's about a number of bands of the record label Fueled by Ramen, including The Academy Is, Panic at the Disco and Cobra Starship.

I'm actually not sure if people also slash the members of Fall Out Boy, but I do know that people who like the other bands for their music, generally tend to like Fall Out Boy as well.

Some people also slash members of the band My Chemical Romance, by the way, which is from a different record label.
