I figured it was a hallucination, too, but it was still creepy. I couldn't shrug off the AI's "sorry" at the end, either--what she did to Sheppard was very, very, very icky torture. The episode I kept thinking of, once Rodney figured out the device, was Scorched Earth, and I was a little surprised the IOA didn't have some sort of guideline for the situation. The silicon people's situation pretty much == the Gadmeer's, except even better because they weren't trying to not!terraform an inhabited planet.

As far as John and women, I know TPTB were trying to say John was hitting on a young scientist chick, but I totally read it as he and Rodney had had a little tiff that John was taking harder, and he took annoying!scientist taxi duty just to get away and cool off for a while. (Loved the Lorne/Parish shoutout, too. :-)

In fanon I absolutely see John the way you do, but I find it increasingly hard to not let canon spoil it for me, because John can be a complete ass when it comes to women. I don't so much mind John hitting on a woman, but him being so obviously bored by everything she says, completely uninterested in what she does, and still wanting to get her in the sack. Basically having a 'please just shut up and spread your legs' kind of attitude, and sulking when he doesn't get his way.

*cough*

It uhm, bugged me...

Huh, really? If I put on my canon goggles, I kind of see John as inept and not really putting himself out there--mostly aggressive women go after him and he really doesn't see it coming. I vaguely remember him as normal and sweet with Chaya. If I read Remnants as him thinking young science chick was cute, I interpret it as he took the taxi run to get to know her. Unfortunately it turns out she's a complete geek about stuff he has NO interest in and he's stuck nodding along and being polite. Then Parrish geeks out even more and John wants to run away. He makes one last attempt to see whether she might possibly find him to be more interesting than some stupid flower, but nope. (He might understand if it was Ancient tech, but a flower?!) So never mind, he's not even going to try asking her on a date.

Hey! Following you now :D

I need to see into this Twitter thing though: I made an account because David and Kate Hewlett are on it, but I'm not really doing anything there (yet).
