legal nonsense

Since The Pirate Bay trial is currently running in Sweden, I have been amusing myself this morning by reading some of the legal threats they have posted on their site. Funny reading, especially if you have a layman's interest in the law, as I have. My favourites have to be the emails that end with things like:

I think the same comment I make could very well apply here.

Actually I've always interpreted that sentence as a simple statement of fact: the study of that book *is* forbidden in many places. For example, a 19 year old student of mine has been forbidden by his father to study Liber AL. Therefore the statement is entirely correct.

Those who interpret that Comment as some kind of moral injunction are not reading the words as they have been written.

Exactly! Many fools read it like it's Crowley saying, "I forbid the study of this book."
