I think that winter without snow is dreary, so I'm glad you did get snow. Dry snow is much nicer -- prettier -- easier to handle than the wet stuff that often ices over too quickly. I really can feel your worry as you walk over icy spots in your spiked shoes....

I have upgraded to IE 7, and I kind of like it. I especially like the tabbed browsing, although I do agree wtih you that it took me some time to get used to where things were!

I don't think there is a single English word to translate "underhalt". Your explanation of ice lying under a layer of powdery snow is probably as close as you can get.

I think that the latest snowfalls have made it look like January should in Sweden. I love the silvery glistening light and the peace that snow brings. I see a lot more snow and wind is on the way, so be careful and keep warm in your red hooded coat.

I hope your tulips brighten up your day. There are a lot of lovely bright colours of tulips around at the moment, so it's a good flower to buy. And maybe it will bring you some memories of your homeland, too.

I love the image of your silvery streets and I´m glad you now have the brightness of snow!

Tulips are such beautiful fragile and colorful flowers. I´m glad you can get cut flowers in winter. It´s important to have that beauty even when everything else is frozen.

Yes I'm glad for the colours of the tulips and they are best this time of the year.

I don't think we really have one specific word for ice under snow, just ice under snow that makes you slide and fall down hard! You only get lots of descriptive words for snows and ice and things when you live in a country where you get so much snow and ice.

You are right. right. The Sami have a lot of words for a thing that they see local. They have many words for all type and temperature of snow. We only have "wet snow" and "cold snow". or klister snö = sticky snow. Not fun for skiing. When I was young and not afraid for halkan I did ski near our home and I hated klistersnö för då gick det trögt att åka.

Wow, it seems to be snowing everywhere, except here, of course. It rained all day.
