I was kind of annoyed/puzzled by this episode. One, because I *didn't* know how long she was on that wagon. That did seem sort of relevant to me. And I didn't understand why Mulan didn't read/have the same sort of knowledge Belle did. If the Yaoguai had been terrorizing her village for so long, I'd imagine that they would have some more information about it. Why weren't they able to find a book? Maybe that's because I live in 2013 and books are probably more readily available than they were in the Enchanted Forest. Maybe Rumplestiltskin had the only copy. But I'd still think there would be unwritten legend that would contain some knowledge.
you raise great points. i'll try to address them...
>One, because I *didn't* know how long she was on that wagon. That did seem sort of relevant to me *nods* same here. (then again, the same they-never-mentioned-it bugs me about how far from Belle's duchy to Rumplestiltskin's castle)
>And I didn't understand why Mulan didn't read/have the same sort of knowledge Belle did. scriptwriters fiat - so there was something for Belle to do.
but lets assume Mulan had the same knowledge as Belle -- would she go to an exact copy of the habitat in her book? (why assume there's still a Yaoguai in that one?), or would she go to mountainous cave habitats which are highly similar? (and probably abundant)
>If the Yaoguai had been terrorizing her village for so long, again, the absence of any spoken span of time, bugs me. was Phillip running through the fields and towns for a month or two? a year? a century? (most of the versions of Sleeping Beauty I've come across, agree that the plants took over the place - and plants can't grow when
