The only shortening I can think of is Caro. More of a contraction rather than a nickname.

I'm inclined to agree. Though some people called Caroline prefer to be called Carol.

Not sure how endearing it'd be found, nor if it's one Scotmen might use, but Caz is a shortening of Caroline...
