Crack! with a high sharp sound of pleasing familiarity. Don raised his glove and stood on tip-toes, but the baseball was still out of reach as it flew past. “Alright!” he congratulated the kid - Hector Matros - as his fellow agents scrambled to get the ball.
Don grinned back at the boy’s proud face. As jobs go, this ain’t bad. Not much call for an FBI when the world was united under the Master. But neither He nor the Toclafane objected to sports continuing worldwide. Bread and circuses, and we brought our own of them.
Terry came up from her post at the umpire’s stand, and conferred with Don. Not just about if the game should be called on account of rain - the toclafane had announced earlier that it would rain in…half an hour from right now - but also what they should have for supper this week. Meals had to be planned ahead; the entire extended family all together, always fun. ( ... )

Ran further and farther than he ever had before, thinking that, since every time they stopped, Rose tried to get him to consider settling down…if he just didn’t stop running, she couldn’t scare him with that prospect - he hadn’t been able to settle down even for Susan’s grandmother, and he doubted he could start now.
